Governor Charlie Crist Appoints Mark Filburn to the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority's Board of Directors

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mark Filburn is the most recent appointee of Governor Charlie Crist to the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority’s Board of Directors. A native of Dayton, Ohio. Filburn moved to Central Florida in 1991. He is a practicing attorney and a graduate of Wake Forest University. Filburn is currently Chief Operating Officer of ZMG Construction Inc. of Longwood, FL. ZMG specializes in reconstruction of multi family structures throughout the United States. Prior to joining ZMG Filburn was managing partner of the Orlando Office of Ruden McClosky P.A., which is a Fort Lauderdale based law firm.

"Mark is a welcomed addition to our Board of Directors. As we continue tackling some of Orange County’s biggest transportation issues, I am confident Mark will be a key asset to our decision making," said Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty.

Filburn has a strong background in contract law related to the construction industry, including roadways and transportation. In his seventeen years of practicing law in Florida, Filburn has reviewed and written contracts involving various aspects of business with a focus on development projects.

"This insight will be very useful as the Authority continues on its multi billion dollar road building programs in the Orlando area," said Filburn.

Filburn and his wife, Maureen, have two children and live in Winter Park. He was sworn in as the Authority's newest member late yesterday.

The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, established in 1963 by the state legislature, is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 100-mile limited-access expressway system to serve the metropolitan Orlando area. The Expressway Authority’ system includes SR 408 (East-West Expressway), SR 528 (Beachline Expressway), SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay), and SR 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway). The Expressway Authority was the first to bring Electronic Toll Collection to Florida with the inception of E-PASS in 1994. Today, more than 470,000 Central Florida residents have E-PASS.
