408-50 Project Map.jpg

In November of 2011, the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority began lengthening and widening the eastbound SR 408 (Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway) exit ramp to SR 50 (Colonial Drive) and realign eastbound SR 408 from the Woodbury Road bridge to SR 50. This $4.8 million project will reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow.

Two dedicated turn lanes were constructed to eastbound SR 50 and a single dedicated turn lane was constructed to westbound SR 50. Additionally, SR 50 was widened between the SR 408 interchange and Bonneville Drive. Also included in this project was the realignment of a one-mile section of eastbound SR 408 between the Woodbury Road bridge and SR 50.

More than 33,300 vehicles a day travel the eastbound SR 408 ramp to SR 50. Traffic volume is expected to increase to nearly 54,900 vehicles a day by 2032.

Please access the Roadwork Update page of the web site to see when construction or lane closures might be taking place along SR 408.
