Paying Tolls FAQs

CFX’s tolling system is equipped with cameras that automatically photograph license plates of toll violators. If you miss toll, a Pay By Plate invoice is issued to the address on a vehicle’s registration. If the Pay By Plate invoice is paid by the due date, no further action will be taken. To avoid future missed tolls, get an E-PASS to automatically pay tolls at a discount.

Pay By Plate is a payment option for drivers using the open-road tolling lanes or all-electronic lanes without a toll transponder such as E-PASS. Cameras will capture the vehicle’s license plate and the registered owner will be sent an invoice by mail. Payment is due within 30 days to avoid toll violations and fines. To avoid potential late fees, getting an E-PASS is recommended. The best part: the E-PASS Sticker is FREE. Click here for the state statute about toll requirements.

If you are an existing E-PASS, SunPass or LeeWay customer, contact your respective service center directly.

Yes. By law, the owner of the vehicle is responsible for missed tolls connected with the use of his or her vehicle. CFX mails a Pay By Plate invoice for missed tolls to the registered owner of the vehicle.

Yes. Failure to pay tolls with cash or via a transponder will generate a Pay By Plate invoice that’s mailed to the registered vehicle’s owner.

There could be one of three reasons:
1. Our system could not read your transponder.
2. The vehicle was not registered on your account.
3. There was no money in the account.

If you no longer own the vehicle or license plate, you will need to contact the appropriate department of motor vehicles to correct their registration information. You will also need to provide an affidavit verifying that you are no longer the vehicle owner. Mail the Affidavit Form to:

Orange County Traffic Court

A Final Warning Letter notifies the registered vehicle’s owner who has not paid a Pay By Plate invoice that they will not be able to renew their vehicle registration until the toll is paid.

If you have outstanding unpaid tolls and fail to pay a Pay By Plate invoice, you will not be able to renew your vehicle registration. All outstanding Pay By Play invoices including active violations must be paid in full to have the hold(s) removed. Partial payments are not accepted. Click “Pay Your Invoice” to pay the unpaid toll(s) online with a credit card or call the Toll Enforcement Office at 407-690-5200.

A Uniform Traffic Citation (UTC) is issued to a habitual toll violator and/or to a motorist who has repeatedly tried to avoid CFX’s Violation Enforcement System.
The UTC must be resolved before the due date or it will be filed with the Clerk of the Court, which could lead to a suspension of the violator’s driver’s license. Additional fines and fees may be assessed. Refer to the UTC notification for special instructions and options.

The easiest way to pay is with a credit card by clicking Pay Your Invoice. You can also call the Violation Enforcement Department at 407-690-5200 or mail a check or money order (with the Pay By Plate invoice number or UTC number noted on it) payable to:
