State Road 528 at Dallas Boulevard Interchange

Project Type: Design

State Road 528 at Dallas Boulevard Interchange

The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is currently designing a new interchange at SR 528 and Dallas Boulevard in Orange County.

This new interchange will improve mobility by realigning and reconstructing SR 528 east of Econlockhatchee River to west of the Dallas Boulevard Mainline Plaza. The existing half-diamond interchange will be replaced with a tight diamond, also known as a compressed diamond, interchange and will include roundabouts on Dallas Boulevard at the ramp intersections. This project will also include a new bridge over Dallas Boulevard that will tie into the existing four-lane roadway with a 40-foot median.

A tight diamond, or compressed diamond, interchange is implemented when an interstate crosses over a smaller road. The ramps that connect the highway to the smaller road are closer together and form a diamond when viewed from above. This design saves space, is cost effective, and helps with traffic flow.

Project Goals

The proposed improvements will enhance mobility for the project area, providing the community with an effective interchange design that will accommodate current and future capacity, and improve the overall regional connectivity.

Design Schedule

Design work is expected to be completed in 2026.

About Public Involvement

Public involvement and interagency coordination will be an integral part of the design process and opportunities for public participation will be provided. CFX anticipates holding a pre-construction meeting prior to the start of construction. Details will be posted once the date and location have been determined.
