The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is designing capacity improvements to State Road 528 / Beachline Expressway from Goldenrod Road to Innovation Way. The seven-mile project will add an additional lane in the eastbound direction of SR 528, expanding the roadway from two to three travel lanes. These capacity improvements projects will greatly increase ease of travel and connectivity for residents and visitors traveling east from Central Florida to beaches, the Space Coast and Port Canaveral.
Additional improvements include milling and resurfacing of the roadway, an additional lane on the ramp from southbound SR 417 to westbound SR 528, as well as updates to signage and lighting.
This capacity improvements project is divided into three segments:
Segment 1 – Goldenrod Road to Narcoossee Road

Design of the three segments is expected to wrap up by mid-2024, with construction beginning in 2024.
