E-PASS FAQs

E-PASS is CFX’s electronic toll-collection system. It allows customers to automatically pay tolls at a discount with a free E-PASS Sticker or a Portable transponder, without stopping. Each time an E-PASS customer passes through a toll point where E-PASS is accepted, an antenna electronically deducts the toll from the motorist’s E-PASS account. A record of all transactions is included in the customer’s monthly statements and is available online.

E-PASS is accepted on all toll roads and most bridges in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. You also can use E-PASS to pay for parking at Orlando International Airport.

E-PASS was introduced in 1994 as Florida’s original toll transponder.

 E-PASS is free.

– There are no monthly account fees.

– 24/7 online account management.

– E-PASS customers pay an average of 23% less on tolls than motorists paying with cash.

E-PASS provides discounts and local customer service.

E-PASS is accepted on all toll roads and most bridges in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

The Beltway Discount Program: E-PASS customers who use CFX portions of SR 414, SR 417, or SR 429 (Beltway) are eligible for additional savings on top of Customer Loyalty Program discounts. (See below.)

– E-PASS offers college-branded toll stickers

E-PASS is accepted at Orlando International Airport to pay for parking.

CFX Customer Loyalty Discount Program: E-PASS customers are automatically eligible for discounts based on the number of toll transactions per transponder on CFX expressways. For example:

E-PASS Transactions Per Month on CFX Expressways Customer Loyalty Discount* Beltway Discount* Total Discount
20-39 CFX Tolls 5% 5%
40-79 CFX Tolls 10% 5% 15%
80+ CFX Tolls 15% 5% 20%

*Contingent on actual revenues trending 2%+ above March 2015 projections for the 6-year I-4 Ultimate construction period. Beltway discount only applied to CFX portions of SR 417, SR 429 and SR 414.

The E-PASS Sticker is free and does not need a battery. It’s about the size of a credit card and it is permanently affixed to the inside of a vehicle’s windshield.

The E-PASS Portable costs $9.95, plus tax, and does not need batteries. It comes with a two-year warranty. A motorist can move a portable transponder from one vehicle to another, but upon doing so we recommend updating the E-PASS account with the new vehicle’s license plate number.

A minimum of $10 in prepaid tolls is required to activate an E-PASS account. All funds in an E-PASS account are refundable when the account is closed.

Yes, E-PASS can be used on all toll roads and most tolled bridges in Florida as well as in North Carolina and Georgia. Just look for the E-PASS, SunPass or LeeWay logo as you enter a toll road in Florida.

Whether you have a sticker or portable device, place it on the windshield’s interior directly behind the rear view mirror. If it’s not properly installed the transponder’s signal may not register at toll plazas. If it fails to register, you will be sent a Pay By Plate invoice for unpaid tolls, plus a 20-cent processing fee per toll. Placing your E-PASS elsewhere in your vehicle is a violation of the user agreement.

Log in to your E-PASS account, call 407-823-7277 or 1-800-353-7277 or go to an E-PASS Service Center and update your account with the latest vehicle information. If you have an E-PASS Sticker, we’ll replace it at no cost to you. E-PASS Stickers will no longer work once removed from your windshield. (Please note: College E-PASS Stickers must be re-purchased for a new vehicle.) If you have an E-PASS Portable, move it to the new vehicle once the vehicle information has been updated.

Yes, but you must first update the vehicle information on your E-PASS account prior to using your E-PASS Portable in a different vehicle than what’s registered to the transponder on your account. Log in to manage your E-PASS account, call 407-823-7277 or 1-800-353-7277 or go to an E-PASS Service Center and update your account with the current vehicle’s information. Please note: E-PASS Stickers CANNOT be moved from car to car.

Only the E-PASS Portable can be used with motorcycles.  An E-PASS Portable transponder will work in the saddlebag or storage compartment of your motorcycle. E-PASS Stickers cannot be used with motorcycles.

E-PASS customers can travel on any lane while passing through toll plazas. However, there are some restrictions on the maximum speed, depending on the following types of lanes:

E-PASS Express Lanes – Express lanes are identified by overhead gantries extending across an expressway. Drivers with E-PASS and other accepted transponders can travel on these lanes at the posted highway speed.

E-PASS Dedicated Lanes – Dedicated lanes resemble traditional tollbooth lanes, however, they are unmanned and equipped with electronic toll-collection devices that pick up transponder signals. The speed limit through these lanes is 35 miles per hour.

Exact Change & Cash Lanes – These are traditional tollbooth lanes for cash-paying motorists. Drivers with E-PASS and other accepted transponders may use these lanes but should expect stop-and-go traffic. The speed limit in these lanes is 25 miles per hour.

Yes. To add secondary vehicles to your E-PASS account online, log in to your account management page. If you have questions or need additional assistance, please contact the E-PASS Service Center.
