Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study:
SR 417 Capacity Improvements from SR 408 to SR 528 PD&E Study
About the SR 417 Capacity Improvements from SR 408 to SR 528 PD&E Study
The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is performing a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study of the State Road 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay) Capacity Improvements from SR 408 (Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway) to SR 528 (Martin B. Andersen Beachline Expressway).
These improvements would match the ongoing capacity improvements of 21 miles of SR 417 from International Drive to SR 528.
The study is evaluating the alternatives of a proposed widening of SR 417 from SR 408 to SR 528, with the potential to incorporate one additional Flex Lane in both directions.
Additionally, the PD&E Study will evaluate and recommend an interim condition of incorporating Flex Lanes with and without the outside widening of the seven-mile stretch of SR 417.
A preliminary noise study will be conducted as part of this PD&E study.
The goals of the SR 417 Capacity Improvements PD&E Study include:
- Enhance mobility for the area’s growing population and economy by providing additional transportation infrastructure.
- Provide consistency with local plans and policies.
- Add future capacity to SR 417 by incorporating Flex Lanes.
- Match improvements of other segments of SR 417.
About Public Involvement
We value your input. Public involvement and interagency coordination are integral to the PD&E Study process, and opportunities for public participation will be provided. CFX anticipates holding an Alternatives Public Workshop in early 2025 as part of this study.

Additional Information
This is a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study which is an initial phase of determining right-of-way acquisition. Property owners near a proposed transportation project often want to know an agency’s process for buying needed private property.
