The Central Florida Expressway Authority began milling and resurfacing State Road 528 (Martin B. Andersen Beachline Expressway) in east Orange County between SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay) and SR 520 in summer 2019. Crews are paving more than 15-miles of the expressway and improving the northbound SR 417 ramp to westbound SR 528. The work consists of three different projects. The segment that runs from Innovation Way to Dallas Boulevard and the segment that runs from Dallas Boulevard to SR 520 began the first week of June 2019. The portion from SR 417 to Innovation Way began in September 2019. All three projects total more than $31.6 million. The projects between Innovation Way and SR 520 are scheduled to be complete by the end of 2019. The final project is expected to be complete in summer 2020.
Drivers can expect nightly lane closures Sundays through Thursdays and sometimes on Friday and Saturday nights. The lane closures are only allowed during overnight hours and non-peak times.
For the safety of motorists and work crews, speed limits will be strictly enforced during construction. Speeding fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present. Motorists are reminded to change lanes for safety when they see Road Rangers assisting other motorists or flashing lights – it’s Florida law.
