(ORLANDO, FL) The Central Florida Expressway Authority Board Thursday approved its operating budget for the fiscal year that begins in July 2015. The budget represents just a 3% increase over last year, when one-time expenses and contractual increases are removed.
“This budget shows that we’re taking good care of toll payer’s money,” said Welton Cadwell, chairman of the Central Florida Expressway Authority. “We’re keeping expenses down and that leaves more money in our customers’ pockets.”
The budget covers just 12% of the agency’s overall expenses and does not include design and construction of new projects or payment of debt.
Also at Thursday’s meeting, the Board heard a presentation on the upcoming five-year work plan. If approved, it will include widening projects on State Road 408 (Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway) and State Road 528 (Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway), interchange improvements at State Road 417 & State Road 528 and State Road 429 & County Road 535 and expansion of CFX’s Wrong Way Driving Countermeasures program.
