(ORLANDO, FL) Laura Kelley has been selected to head the Central Florida Expressway Authority as the agency’s first Executive Director. CFX’s Board today picked Kelley by a unanimous vote. She was one of two finalists after a months-long national search. CFX was created by state statute in June 2014 and the Executive Director position has been vacant since that time.
Ms. Kelley is being promoted from the position of Deputy Executive Director of Finance and Administration and was helping manage the day-to-day-operations of CFX in the absence of an executive director. She joined the agency’s predecessor, the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, in 2006. The bulk of Ms. Kelley’s more than 30-year professional career has been spent in transportation. Prior to her arrival in Orlando, she served as the executive director of the Florida Transportation Commission, which provides oversight and accountability for the state’s transportation authorities.
Pending successful contract negotiations, Ms. Kelley will begin her new role on immediately.
