The approximately five-mile segment of State Road 417 from State Road 408 north to the Orange/Seminole County Line continues to experience an increase in traffic. To address continued growth in traffic, increased congestion, and maintain safety, the project proposes capacity improvements by widening SR 417 from SR 408 to the Orange/Seminole County line.
SR 417 from SR 408 to the Orange/Seminole County line currently varies from a six-lane to eight-lane facility (including auxiliary lanes). This Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study will analyze widening SR 417 from SR 408 to the Orange/Seminole County line to 10 general-use lanes (five in each direction, including auxiliary lanes), plus one Flex Lane in each direction as the ultimate build-out condition. The PD&E Study will also evaluate and recommend the best interim option for Flex Lanes – including how long the segment should be and where it should begin and end – both with and without outside widening.
