The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is currently designing capacity improvements for State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) from Schofield Road to Tilden Road. This project is being developed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and accommodate continued population growth and increasing travel demand within the corridor.

Proposed improvements include widening SR 429 from four lanes to six lanes by adding lanes to the inside and widening the median shoulders, known as Flex Lanes, which can temporarily carry additional traffic during emergency response events. CFX will also conduct an additional noise study during the design phase. These improvements are similar to the ongoing SR 429 capacity improvements between Tilden Road and SR 414 (Apopka Expressway).

Based on information gathered during the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study phase, the project has been divided into two segments. Segment 1 extends from Schofield Road to New Independence Parkway. Segment 2 extends from New Independence Parkway to Tilden Road.

PD&E Completed: Fall 2025

Design Start: Spring 2026

Public Meeting: Spring 2027

Anticipated Design Completion: Spring 2027

• Promotes regional connectivity.
• Enhances evacuation and emergency services response.
• Adds future capacity by incorporating Flex Lanes.
