Christopher Maier

Governor's Appointee

Christopher “C.J.” Maier is a Director of Development at NextEra Energy, the Florida based parent company of Florida Power & Light. At NextEra Energy, Maier is in charge of strategic partnerships and developing renewable energy projects for other utilities within the state, including solar, battery storage, hydrogen, fleet electrification, and other Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) solutions. Maier has worked in the greater infrastructure industry since 1999, inclusive of wireless, fiber optics, transportation, water, and renewable energy.

Maier is active in the Central Florida community including serving on the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council, Leadership Florida, MetroPlan Orlando’s Community Advisory Committee, Project Lead the Way, First United Methodist Church of Orlando, and as President of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business Alumni Board of Directors.

Maier earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in International Affairs and has a Master of Business Administration from Rollins College. A native of Central Florida, Maier and his wife Jennifer – an OCPS elementary school teacher – live in Orlando with their two sons, Landon and Palmer.
