CFX will widen SR 429 to six lanes (three lanes in each direction) between Tilden Road and SR 414 to improve traffic flow and relieve congestion. Construction is expected to begin by early 2021.
To minimize impact to motorists, the SR 429 widening project will be divided into three segments, each of which is anticipated to take approximately two years to complete:
Segment 1: Tilden Road to Florida’s Turnpike
This 3.5-mile project will add a travel lane in each direction, expanding the expressway to a total of six lanes.
Segment 2: Florida’s Turnpike to West Road
This 6.1-mile project will add a travel lane in each direction, add another lane at the Plant Street entrance ramp to southbound SR 429, and add auxiliary lanes throughout the project limits. This project will also realign the east side of the Plant Street interchange to reduce backups along SR 429 and improve traffic flow along Plant and Franklin Streets.
Segment 3: West Road to SR 414
This 3.4-mile project will also add a travel lane in each direction, expanding the expressway to a total of six lanes.
