On Tuesday, July 5, 2016, the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) will begin work on the State Road 528 (Beachline Expressway)/Innovation Way Interchange, a public/private partnership between CFX, Orange County, and Suburban Land Reserve that will improve connectivity in the region to the Innovation Way Corridor.
Innovation Way, located in east Orange County, has been envisioned as an economic development corridor that promotes high tech business and job growth along with quality housing, new schools, parks, trails and natural spaces. The addition of this new $62.5 million interchange will feature four ramps with two ramp plazas. The project also includes removing the existing State Road 528/International Corporate Park (ICP) Boulevard interchange and extending Alafaya Trail to Aerospace Parkway with a connection to ICP Boulevard.
The new interchange is scheduled to open to traffic by early 2018.
