October 8, 2025 (Orlando, FL) – Central Florida Expressway Authority’s Wekiva Parkway SR 429/SR 453 landscape project has been honored by the Florida Native Plant Society. This recognition highlights our commitment to environmental stewardship and is an example of low-impact design and construction.
Spanning more than 30 acres, the project features meandering beds of native grasses, shrubs, and trees including sabal palms, magnolias, and longleaf pines, blending seamlessly into the surrounding natural habitat. These plantings not only enhance the scenic beauty of the parkway but also support wildlife and conserve water using drought-tolerant species.
The Wekiva Parkway landscaping project, which features more than 30 Florida native plant species, sets a high standard for cost-effective, impactful landscaping that reflects Florida’s unique ecology.
