December 5, 2024 (Orlando, FL) ̶ The Central Florida Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) has recognized the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) with three prestigious awards highlighting its work in advancing the region’s transportation network throughout Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
Among this year’s WTS Central Florida awards is the Woman of the Year, which was conferred to Michelle Maikisch, executive director of CFX. The award honors a woman who is an outstanding role model and has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation.
WTS Central Florida also honored CFX with two additional awards:
- The Harold W. Barley Regional Partnership Award honors an individual or organization that demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of the regional transportation network. Glenn Pressimone, chief of infrastructure for CFX, accepted the award for the agency.
- The Innovative Transportation Solutions Award, saluting CFX’s Visitor Toll Pass project as an example of an innovative transportation project led by a woman. Angela Melton, director of customer experience and marketing for CFX, accepted the award for the agency.
“WTS of Central Florida plays a critical role in our community promoting the advancement of women in the transportation industry,” said Stacey Russell, president of the WTS Central Florida Chapter. “Our annual awards recognize individuals and organizations who serve as a beacon of empowerment for transportation leaders in our region. It is the honor of our board and members to recognize the CFX team on the work they do to elevate women within their agency while providing a regional transportation network for Central Florida.”
An audience of transportation industry professionals was on hand December 4, 2024, at SeaWorld Orlando Ports of Call as CFX accepted the awards at WTS Central Florida’s 27th Annual Scholarship & Awards Banquet.
