CFX Board Adopts New Pay By Plate Toll Rate

CFX Board Adopts New Pay By Plate Toll Rate

The Central Florida Expressway Authority Governing Board adopted a new Pay by Plate toll rate, which will go into effect on July 1, 2020.

The Pay by Plate rate is being established in response to the increasing cost to collect tolls from drivers who choose not to use an electronic transponder such as E-PASS, or pay tolls with cash.

Currently, Pay by Plate drivers pay the cash rate plus a .20 cent transaction fee per toll. Starting July 1, 2019, the rate will adjust the be twice the electronic rate for drivers who prefer to have a bill sent to them in the mail. Customers will be billed for tolls at the new Pay by Plate rate that will be posted on roadside signage at all CFX toll collection points.

Drivers who choose to pay tolls with E-PASS and cash will not be impacted by the new Pay by Plate rate. Customers are encouraged to get E-PASS to always pay the lowest toll rate. Drivers can also pay with cash in the cash or coin lanes, or maintain an E-PASS prepaid account with cash at the Reload Lanes.

Also announced at the Board meeting, CFX will release a Pay by Plate payment feature in the E-PASS app in spring 2020.
