ORLANDO, FL. — The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) recently was recognized and received five awards from various international, state and local organizations for environmental stewardship, project engineering and construction, excellence in financial reporting, and customer service innovation.
The five awards are:
- Toll Excellence Award for Social Responsibility 2019 — The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) presented the honor to CFX, Florida Department of Transportation-District 5 and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise for their joint effort to protect wildlife and other natural resources surrounding the Wekiva River, an Outstanding Florida Water and National Wild and Scenic River, during development of the 25-mile Wekiva Parkway.
- Best in Construction Award 2019 — The Florida Transportation Builders Association honored CFX and Southland Construction for their work on the Wekiva Parkway interchange at State Roads 429 and 453.
- Grand Engineering Excellence Award 2019 — The American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida recognized CFX and Atkins North America Inc. for innovative engineering on CFX’s Wekiva Parkway interchange at State Roads 429 and 453.
- Excellence in Financial Reporting — The Government Finance Officers Association awarded CFX, for the 14th consecutive year, with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
- Certificate of Merit in Customer Service & Marketing Outreach — The IBTTA recognized CFX for “contributing to the advancement of the worldwide toll industry” with the introduction of a new customer benefit called Reload Lanes. CFX is the first toll agency in the continental United States to offer drive-up customer service on expressways. At Reload Lanes, motorists can open or replenish E-PASS prepaid toll accounts.
