Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer was unanimously elected Chairman of the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) Governing Board by his fellow board members on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Mayor Dyer has served as a CFX board member since its creation in 2014 and as the Mayor of Orlando has a permanent seat on the board.
At Thursday’s meeting, the 10-member board also unanimously elected Lake County District 2 Commissioner Sean Parks as vice chairman and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings as treasurer.
Orange County District 6 Commissioner Victoria P. Siplin and Seminole County District 3 Commissioner Lee Constantine also joined the CFX governing board on Thursday, December 10, 2020. As members of the CFX board, Siplin and Constantine will represent the residents of Orange and Seminole Counties respectively.
Commissioner Siplin received the appointment to the CFX governing board from Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings who also serves on CFX’s Board.
Siplin was re-elected to her second four-year term in the 2018 August Primary as Commissioner of Orange County District 6. The first Haitian-American elected official in Central Florida, Siplin was appointed Orange County Vice-Mayor in 2017 and also represents Orange County on the MetroPlan Orlando board.
In November 2020, Constantine was elected Chairman of the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners and he is serving his fourth term as Chairman of the Wekiva River Basin Commission, honoring his commitment to protect the Wekiva River while building the beltway around Central Florida. He is also the Chairman of the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and the President of the Florida Regional Planning Councils.
