Five-Year Work Plans

The Five-Year Work Plan is an important tool used by CFX to effectively manage its program of system improvements, enhancements and rehabilitation.

CFX uses its Five-Year Work Plan to deliver transportation improvements that support residents, workers, and travelers across Central Florida. Updated annually, the plan remains flexible to adapt as projects progress and priorities evolve. The FY 2027–2031 Work Plan builds on CFX’s Master Plan and continues advancing projects from prior plans. It turns long-term vision into action by enhancing mobility, supporting economic growth, and improving quality of life throughout the region. 

Funded by the drivers who use our expressways, the Work Plan invests in new projects while improving the system they rely on every day. The plan includes new expressway connections, widening projects for congestion relief, and safety initiatives. Together, these investments will improve mobility, reduce congestion in growing areas, and support safer, more reliable travel throughout Central Florida.

• SR 528 Capacity Improvements 

• SR 417 Capacity Improvements 

• SR 429 Capacity Improvements 

System Expansion Projects

• SR 516 (Lake/Orange Expressway) 

• SR 534 Phases I, II and III 

• SR 538 Poinciana Parkway Extension 

• SR 414 Expressway Extension 

• SR 452 Seminole Connector 

Technology & Safety Initiatives

• 100% completion of CFX’s Wrong Way Driver Detection system at existing off-ramp locations 

• Approximately 58 miles of resurfacing 

• Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Expansion of CFX’s Flex Lanes program to additional sections on SR 417 & SR 429 to enhance traffic management 

Together, these projects will continue to deliver safer roadways, more consistent travel conditions, improved driver decision-making, and stronger long-term performance across CFX’s 125-mile expressway system.
